Shipboard Automatic Watchstander

چکیده
Crew sizes in the Navy and Coast Guard continue to decrease. Optimally or minimally manned crews complete ever more complex and varied mission sets. Accordingly, crews rely on sensors and automatic operation to perform a host of duties formerly completed manually. The Non-Intrusive Load Monitor (NILM) provides a low cost, low-maintenance, rugged, easily installed tool for machinery monitoring from a centralized location. This paper presents a real-world application and case study of a power monitor installed on a USCG Famous Class (270 ft) Cutter’s “Engine Room Auxiliary Machinery” panel, monitoring eight key pieces of machinery. The NILM effectively determines machinery status. Comparison is made here to crewgenerated logs, demonstrating the NILM’s ability to effectively disaggregate equipment operation from aggregate power data.

The Application of Automatic Identification Technology
Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) has numerous potential applications in the maritime field. By putting AIT tracking devices, such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags, on materials and equipment, items can be accurately located, tracked, and recovered, while reducing the manpower and other costs associated with these tasks. This results in more efficient movement and utilizati...
متن کاملPerformance Analysis of Carrier-Phase DGPS Navigation for Shipboard Landing of Aircraft
Shipboard-relative GPS (SRGPS) is a variant of the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) that is being developed to support automatic shipboard landings in zero-visibility conditions. At present, the navigation system requirements specify a vertical protection level of 1.1 m, an integrity risk of approximately 10 7, and a system availability of at least 99.7 percent. Because of th...
متن کاملEnergy Management System with Automatic Reconfiguration for Electric Shipboard Power Systems
The automatic reconfiguration of electric shipboard power systems is an important step toward improved fight-through and self-healing capabilities of naval warships. The improvements are envisioned by redesigning the electric power system and its controls. This research focuses on a new scheme for an energy management system in form of distributed control agents. The control agents' task is to ...
متن کاملModeling of Ungrounded Shipboard Power System in Pspice
Navy shipboard power systems have different characteristics when compared to utility power systems. To conduct system studies on shipboard power systems, an effective simulation tool is required to model shipboard electric power systems. PSpice is a very powerful tool for analog/digital circuit simulation, but it is rarely used for power systems. This paper presents modeling shipboard power sys...
